Helen Baker aims to explore the relationship between depression and intuition with the desire to inspire hope in others who face challenges.
She, herself, has faced challenges of depression and has since learned to channel the suffering into her art.
Helen creates her work in a meditative state, bringing to the canvas a vibrant tapestry of human emotion.
She draws inspiration from a wide variety of art movements: post-Impressionism, surrealism, symbolism, and geometric abstraction. She also derives influence from the effect of stained glass and the result is a kaleidoscope of colour on canvas.
Helen works to raise awareness about mental illness and donates 10% of the sales of her original artwork to the Kingston Defeat Depression campaign.
