It’s sunset on Wemp’s Bay on Amherst Island and the lake is about to freeze. The waves are moving slow and glooping as they crash on the shore. The light is just right. I run from my front door to get a picture before everything is changed. It’s perfect. I capture the shot. And dream about painting it.
I paint the background immediately. And am stuck.
It tasks me months to figure out how to paint the rest. When I finally do, it pours out of me. And this painting is born.
Being. Being present. Being still. Being at peace. Being whole. That is what this piece is all about.
